Ok, some of the plot twists you might have seen in other RPG but i really liked how the story was build and how the mystery were getting solved when you get deeper in the game.Ĭombat are really action oriented. Those Tales game are really getting better and better!Ĭlassic JRPG setting with a solid story. Overall, I loved this game and highly recommend it :) Plus, the game looks absolutely gorgeous, ran flawlessly, and the music is awesome as always. The accessory crafting in particular is really deep and can make for some really cheesy builds, which is great. You've also got JRPG staples like cooking, weapon and accessory crafting, fishing, etc. Better side quests open up near the end and in the post-game and I really enjoyed doing all of them. There are a lot of side quests but most of them are either fetch quests or hunt quests, which I'm not normally a fan of, but it makes sense in the world that this game takes place in. The new combat system is fluid and fun, but also very deep and customizable.
The worldbuilding is fantastic and immersive and I felt that the themes this game dealt with were handled very well. The characters are all likeable and interesting and I cared about all of them. There were also a few silly parts as well (what's with Japanese games and protagonists not killing the bad guy when they should?). It also features story content previously only found in the International versions, and a new audio drama set a year after.I love Tales games and this one is no different! The story is gripping and engaging all the way through, and there were a number of emotional moments that got me good.
